Where are our plants grown and are they acclimated to the Australian climate?We grow all our topiary between The Wide Bay region of Queensland, and 30mins out of Brisbane city. Our topiary is well acclimated to these climates.
Who shapes the topiary?We, here at Topiary King do all the topiary maintenance ourself, using training and techniques we learned in the Tuscan region of Italy.
How do I maintain my topiary plants?Regular maintenance; including watering, fertilising, and pruning. Ensure the plants receive adequate sunlight and trim them a few times a year to maintain their shape.
How often do I water my topiary?Watering should be done thoroughly but infrequently. Allow the topsoil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent over-saturation.
What is the best time of year to shape my topiary?Late Winter to early Spring (before the plant pushes out all the lovely new growth).
Late Spring to early Autumn.
How much sunlight does my topiary require?Most topiary plants thrive in full sun to partial shade. Aim for at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day, depending on the species.
What soil is best for my topiary?A well-draining potting mix or soil is ideal for topiary plants. Ensure the potting mix/soil retains moisture but does not remain soggy or retain pools of water.
How often should I trim my topiary?Pruning frequency can depend on the plant species and growth rate, however, generally, pruning every few months is recommended to keep the desired shape.
Can my topiary be affected by pests and disease?To manage pests and diseases, regular inspection of the plants is essential. If pests or diseases are detected, appropriate treatment measures can include the use of insecticidal soaps, horticultural oils, or fungicides, while keeping in mind the specific needs and characteristics of the topiary species in question.
